Edöné
Edöné RELIGION AND BELIEF — A religious order. The Edöné are a line of people who have a deep and natural bond with the greater connectivity of all things in nature. This bond allows open communication between them and the natural world, even to the point of having limited influence over the elements and natural things—i.e., wind, rain, plants, animals, etc. This ability is usually manifested only in females but is passed down from parent to child. Male children have shown signs of this ability but usually with less intensity than their female relatives, and generally, though not always, when such a male child has no living mother or sisters, or in cases where the women → folken have failed to either bear signs of the → Edön or simply resisted its power. The term Edön is often used before a person’s name who is believed to be an Edöné, though few people actually know or understand its meaning. The Edöné are largely a private group, are not self seeking, and tend to avoid making themselves known to other folken to avoid attempts on their part to utilize the → Edönic gifts. They do not collect in like groups but generally live interspersed within larger communities, villages, and cities, or occasionally as hermits. However, in times of great need, they have been known to band together for the service of the greater good.
