Gal

Gal LINGUISTICS — Prefix. Gal is a prefix used in the names of most villages or cities in the warmer climates of the south (→ Carde), especially smaller ones. It literally translates “little” but carries a connotation of respect. In rare cases, it is used before the name of an individual dwelling, but only when the dwelling is large—as with a castle.
