moon beads

moon beads RELIGION AND BELIEF — Sacred objects. Moon beads are flat, round beads, carved from wood, stone, or metal, or fashioned from glass, that depict the various stages of the moon. Moon beads are used during → Hidain rituals for festive and religious purposes. Moon beads are kept in a sack that can be tied or open on both ends. When synched, the sack is shaken to mix the beads. Then one or both ends are opened, and beads are selected or poured, depending on the rite. The beads may be used in divination, for casting lots, or given as charmed gifts or tokens.
