rumenati

rumenati (alternate: → rumen (1)) FAYE* —  A creature. The rumenati are a race of semi-immortal blood drinkers who live on the consumption of blood, primarily human. There are many myths surrounding the rumen, though little has actually been proven regarding their origins. They take great pleasure in causing pain in others. They are more powerful at night, though they can move about in the day. Their teeth and nails contain a poison much like spider venom, incapacitating their prey so the rumenati can eat at their leisure. They do not swallow the blood straight away but collect it in an organ specific to the rumenati—this organ is thus called a → rumen (2)—where it is held until needed, at which point it is regurgitated and swallowed. The rumen have some power of persuasion and other magical or supernatural abilities. One is born a rumen—humans cannot be turned into rumenati.

* Rumenati origins are unclear, though their physiology appears to be biological rather than magical. However, given their uncanny “powers,” they are loosely considered → faye. This is only marginally true, since faye tend to be of a more natural order.

Eric Love
I am a story teller. The goal of a story is to move people in some way. Whether with video, words or images and graphics, my end goal is always to tell a good story. When your story is told successfully, it expresses your strengths and the unique way in which you fill a need or want. With every service I offer, I seek to answer this question: what is the best way to tell this story? Showing always beats telling.
