cubare FAYE – A demon. A cubare is a type of → shade, specifically, a sex demon. They are known for having insatiable appetites. They may absorb other shades, assuming their power and/or magical properties, but they find most delight in inhabiting the physical body of a person or animal. Because they are sex demons, they may inhabit the body of an animal and use that body to copulate with other animals or even people. They can make psychic connections with people and → faye. The reason for their need for sex is unclear, though it is clear the act increases their power (particularly physical sex acts, as opposed to psychic sexual connections). Cubare may inhabit a host body and use it as their own until the body wears out, resulting in the death of the host. Depending on the specific cubare and their intentions, the host may or may not be aware of the possession.
