Mother, the

Mother, the RELIGION AND BELIEF, MYTHOLOGY — A religious figure. Perhaps the oldest of all known belief systems, the Mother is thought to be exactly as she sounds: the mother of all life. Essentially, she is the world itself and all natural (including magical) things that are part of it. She is sometimes referred to as Mother Sky or Mother Tree (or variations of either, such as → Weeping Mother Tree), but she is also referred to simply as the Mother. Though her religion was a thing unto itself, many other belief systems have adopted the Mother as part of their own beliefs.
