Red Death, the
Red Death, the CULTURE — A powder used for burning, or the smoke of it. The term Red Death refers to one of two sigils* of the → Skree. The Red Death refers to the burning of a fine powder specific to the → Kathian Mountains that releases billows of thick, red smoke into the sky, and is also the name of the powder itself. The powder is volatile and corrosive and is considered among the Skree to be the “breath” of the → Dragon, or the fossilized saliva of the Dragon. Some believe the powder holds magical properties. It is highly sought by apothecaries and sorcerers throughout → Mor-Thandak, since it is very difficult to obtain outside the Kathians. It can be found among roving bands of Skree, though getting it this way is most often considered far too dangerous, or through the primary way it is acquired: when it is left behind as a light residue once a village or city has been eradicated by the Skree. This latter practice is the typical way it is collected, though Skree raids are far more rare than in past ages.
